ilovegodaboveall replied to your post: I started at Matthew down. Now, I am in Romans. :) But yeah, as John 1:1 says “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.” so yeah, John is nice to start with. God bless, pretty! :)
That’s ok, what’s important is that the living Word of God gets to our hearts:) JOHN is the best book to start because it is complete. It summarizes and explains everything about who our God is (even if there is no virgin birth unlike Matthew’s and Luke’s),and summarizes salvation. Yeah,it starts with “In the beginning” - Jesus, who became flesh - our God who lived among us:) I think the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association give away the Gospel of John after evangelizing because it’s what they gave when they came to us.
God bless your devotions!♥
If you are going to start reading the Bible, start at the book of John of the New Testament. And then the remaining gospels, Matthew, Mark & Luke. After that you can read any book. Keep reading - everyday. If you can’t understand something, it’s ok. Ask God for wisdom. “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.” (James 1:5). Keep seeking the Lord and you will find true joy and satisfaction of the soul (See Psalm 1). God bless!
